The New York Public Library is committed to providing the young people of New York City with the tools and support they need to make a positive difference in their lives and in their communities. Through the Library's four existing Teen Centers in the Bronx, mid-Manhattan, and Staten Island, NYPL shows that we care about teens and want to support their intellectual, social, and emotional development.
Currently, the Library does not have a dedicated Teen Center to engage and empower the historically under-served teen population in the Harlem, Washington Heights, and Hamilton Heights communities. Once realized a year from now, the new Hamilton Grange Teen Center on 145th Street and Amsterdam Avenue will be a major gateway for teenagers in Upper Manhattan, reflecting the culture, passion, and concerns unique to teens in the area.
With an engaged Library staff dedicated to serving young adults and strong partnerships with local schools and other community-based partners, we believe that this project will make a difference in young people's lives for many years to come.
