Event Details
Former Cullman Fellow (2012-2013), Luc Sante, will discuss his new book, “The Other Paris,” about the hidden past and seamy underside of Paris, with writer, journalist, professor, and former Cullman Fellow Ian Buruma. Drawing on testimony from a great range of witnesses including Balzac and Hugo, to assorted boulevardiers, rabble-rousers, and tramps, and illustrated with more than three hundred images, Mr. Sante’s book reveals pre-Haussmann Paris as it was lived and experienced by the forgotten poor. This event is hosted by the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers.
