This workshop will take place in person at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library, 3rd Floor, Room 304.

Join us for a four-part workshop in which attendees will learn the Arabic alphabet, with emphasis on the Naskh style. Participants will learn the history and variations of the alphabet, will practice writing Arabic letters, and learn how to write their names.

Materials will be provided. No prior drawing or language experience is necessary.

Please register for each session separately (dates below).  Attending all sessions is strongly recommended as each session will build on the previous one.

Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance. All registered seats are released shortly before the start time.  Walk-ins admitted if spaces are available at the start of each session.

About the Instructor

Abdelatif Chachai Handi is a Moroccan-Spanish calligrapher, interpreter, cultural mediator, and voice actor. As head of ASMINA (Association of Intercultural Services and Mediation of Navarre (Spain)), he developed programs and workshops to help bridge cultural relationships between North African minorities and Spanish society.
