The New York Public Library to Launch Innovative New Author Series, NYPL Books at Noon Begins March 5
Popular authors, such as P.J. O’Rourke, Paul Auster, Michael Cunningham, Joyce Carol Oates and others, to participate in one-hour weekly series under the center arch of NYPL’s inspiring Astor Hall
February 24 – The New York Public Library has a lunch hour special that is sure to entice the busy New Yorker. NYPL Books at Noon, launching March 5, is an innovative weekly author series featuring some of the most notable authors in literature –Francine Prose, Colm Toibin, Eve Ensler and others. The one-hour, standing room only event will be held each Wednesday under the center arch in Astor Hall, just inside the Fifth Avenue entrance of NYPL’s iconic Library on 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue.
Over the course of ten weeks – March 5 to May 7 – ten authors will participate in a 30-minute discussion about their latest work, followed by a 10 minute period of answering questions from the audience, and ending with a booksigning held next to the event at the Readers & Writers Shop at The New York Public Library.
Structured to fit the lunch hour of working New Yorkers, the free event offers attendees the opportunity to get their literary fix while managing their busy schedule. Hosting the event in the historic lobby of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building provides access to those interested in attending, while introducing the authors to new audiences through the discussion held in one of the most recognized open, public indoor spaces in New York City.

April 2 -Colm Toibin, author of The Testament of Mary (pub. Scribner)
April 9 -A.E. Hotchner, author of OJ in the Morning (pub. St. Martins), GT at Night: Spirited Dispatches on Aging with Joie de Vivre (pub. St. Martins)
April 16 -Joyce Carol Oates, author of Catharge (pub. Ecco)
April 23 -Francine Prose, author of Lovers at the Chameleon Club, Paris 1932 (Pub. Harper Collins)
April 30 - Richard Ravitch, author of So Much To Do (pub. Foreign Affairs)
May 7 - Eve Ensler, author of In the Body of the World (pub. Picador)
