New York City Bakery Amy’s Bread to Open At Two Iconic New York Public Library Buildings

SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 – Treasured New York City bakery Amy’s Bread will open cafes at two New York Public Library locations in Manhattan this September.

The bakery café will open at the Library’s landmark Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street on Monday, Sept. 21, and at its Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center on Sept. 28.

The two cafes will give New York Public Library visitors a range of rotating treats to enjoy while in the buildings to view exhibitions, do research or other work, use the internet, and so on. The menu will include sandwiches, salads, muffins, pastries, hot and cold drinks, and cookies – including a special lion cookie paying tribute to the Library’s famous lions, Patience and Fortitude.

“It is important that we offer the public what they want and need while they’re in our buildings, often for hours while doing important research,” said NYPL Chief External Relations Officer Carrie Welch. “We have heard from our patrons that they would like refreshments – especially coffee – so we’re happy to offer treats from one of New York City’s favorite bakeries.”

Amy’s Bread has operated in New York City for 23 years and offers a variety of treats always made the traditional way – by hand and served within hours of being baked.
