New York Public Library To Display First Edition Sheet Music Of The Star Spangled Banner Beginning Sept. 12

What:  The New York Public Library’s Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center will display its first edition sheet music of The Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key to mark the 200th anniversary of the song’s publication.

When: The display starts on Friday, Sept. 12 (National Star Spangled Music Day) and ends on Oct. 30.

Where: Third floor gallery, Library for the Performing Arts at 40 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023

Interesting Facts: The Library’s copy is one of only 11 first editions known to exist. The easiest way to identify a first edition is by the misspelling of the word “patriotic” on the first page – it is spelled “pariotic.”
