Thanks for this wonderful list. I have a 10 year old granddaughter most of the summer. She is a reluctant reader. I can't wait to introduce her to this list.

Very Poor edit!

My daughter brought home Graveyard Shakes and it is a sassy, shallow, poorly written graphic novel...clearly aimed at generating a series and playing to tiny attention spans. Why not include the real Anne of Green Gables? Why a graphic novel?! Try Roald Dahl, The Borrowers, Charlotte's Web, Pippi Longstocking, Black Beauty, The Adventures of Paddington, Ballet Shoes, A Wrinkle in Time, Little house in The Big Woods, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, Peter Pan, The Snow Queen..... Good books require an investment of time and attention and pay off in deeper ways than any of the crowd pleasers on this list.
