Join The New York Public Library this summer for our six-week Virtual Summer Camp program. Every week, kids and students of all ages, and their families, can find a new batch of fun, hands-on activities that promote learning, reading, and creativity—and can all be done from home.

Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt & Five Senses Poetry

Explore your neighborhood on a scavenger hunt, then write a poem about it using the five senses.

Grades 3–5

Neighborhood Travel Brochure

Create a brochure to showcase the reasons to visit your neighborhood, real or imaginary!

Middle School & Up

Documenting Your New York

Use the Library's Digital Collections to find an old photo of a building close to your home, recreate it in the present, and think about what makes New York City special to you.

Building Your World with Recyclable Materials

Use household and recyclable items to build an inspiring new structure. We can all be inventors, storytellers and builders!

Grades 3–5

Build Your Own Dream Home (or Space Station or Castle...)

Design your dream space using simple kitchen ingredients like marshmallows, toothpicks, pasta, gumdrops, and more.

Middle School & Up

Community Maps & Imaginary Maps

Design a map of your community or an imaginary world showcasing to-scale features and using map-drawing conventions.

All Ages: Weekly Challenge

Youth Technology Challenge: Build a New World from Scratch

Using coding software Scratch, imagine an exciting new world where anything is possible using your own characters, settings, and items.
