LUNGS: Spring Awakening

This exhibit includes various photos from Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens (LUNGS). LUNGS is a grassroots organization formed to promote, protect and preserve the community gardens in Loisaida, the Lower East Side and the East Village. In the 60s and 70s, demolished buildings became vacant lots that were converted into community gardens, The photos in this exhibit showcase the gardens and the work of LUNGS to preserve these cherished spaces. Photographs are by Eileen Doster, Sally Young, Carolyn Ratcliffe, Magali Regis, Sally Young and Margarita Calderon.
