The New York Public Library’s Woodstock Branch in the Bronx to Reopen with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Special Performances

MAY 11, 2017 - On Monday, May 15 at 10 AM, the Woodstock Branch of The New York Public Library will celebrate reopening to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, special performances and public programming for children and adults.

The ceremony will feature remarks by New York Public Library President Tony Marx and City Councilmember Rafael Salamanca Jr., and will be followed by performances from the Ken Simon Jazz Quartet and a children’s Splish Splash Beach Concert, with additional programming throughout the day.

Renovations to the 103-year old branch include an expanded children’s center with story hour area, a new young adult space with lounge seating, and an increase in computer stations for both children and adults, among a number of other enhancements to its public and programming spaces.

The renovations were managed by the Department of Design and Construction and led by Rice + Lipka Architects. Mayor Bill de Blasio, Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., Council Member Maria del Carmen Arroyo and the New York State Education Department provided funding for the project.
